Tabloid Printing Prices

You can print a single copy of your tabloid newspaper for as little as £14, including delivery. Of course the unit cost reduces dramatically as you order more copies. So using our 55gsm Improved Newsprint stock, you can purchase say, 100 copies of your digital tabloid, printed and delivered for as little as £50. For larger print runs of over 1000 copies it may be financially beneficial to print your newspapers using the traditional newspaper printing method called “Web offset” which is used by many major daily national publications.

The Original Digital Newspaper Printers

The News Hound were the first company in the world to print newspapers using high speed inkjet technology. So, if you’ve had a newspaper digitally printed, it’s more than likely we actually printed it for you.

We use the Océ Jetstream inkjet machine to print all of our newspapers. It prints on standard newsprint grades, so your finished newspaper products actually look and feel identical to their traditionally printed stable mates.

Tabloid Vs Broadsheet

Tabloids are about half the size of a broadsheet newspaper making them a staple choice of reading on the train or bus. With its smaller size, tabloid articles tend to be much shorter in length with a single headline dominating the front page in an effort to draw attention at a distance.

Compared with the political and economic discussions typically found in broadsheets, tabloid newspaper articles are often more sensational, reporting crime and gossip stories in a relaxed and typically irreverent style that appeals to popular opinion.

History of the tabloid newspaper

The word “tabloid” originates from a London-based pharmaceutical company who marketed their compressed tablets as “tabloid pills” in the late 1880s. The connotation soon spread to other compressed items, with ‘tabloid news’ and later ‘tabloid journalism’ coming to mean stories that had been condensed for simpler reading.

This led to the birth of the “Red Tops”, which are the most popular tabloid newspapers in the UK. Tabloid newspaper printing quickly became the most prolific and popular format of newspaper printing, with the Daily Mirror printing over 5.5 million tabloid newspapers every day during the 60’s and 70’s.

After more than a century, today tabloid newspaper printing continues to be a firm favourite with the UK readership.
